“Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams has recently been in the news in Texas for his ongoing divorce. In a recent update, he and his ex-wife announced that they reached a temporary settlement, allowing them both to move forward for now. Included in the temporary settlement are orders for spousal and child support.
Williams and Aryn Drake-Lee were married for nearly five years before they decided to divorce in April 2017. The 35-year-old actor had been accused of bringing many different romantic partners around his children after the separation, and although the claims were not substantiated, it seems that they played a role in dragging out proceedings. The couple share two children, a daughter and son aged 3 and 1 years old, respectively.
The temporary settlement outlines $160,000 that Williams will pay Drake-Lee, with the money to be taken from three of his future paychecks from “Grey’s Anatomy.” Of that, $100,000 is specified as spousal and child support. The other $60,000 Drake-Lee will receive is intended to cover related expenses and legal fees. The couple was also able to reach a temporary custody arrangement, which grants joint guardianship.
Although temporary, this settlement likely gives both Williams and Drake-Lee a sense of closure and stability. This is a strategy that can also be used by parents in Texas who are dealing with otherwise contentious or drawn-out divorce proceedings. In these types of situations, creating a temporary agreement for spousal or child support can ensure that everyone involved is adequately cared for until a more permanent solution is agreed upon.
