Texas fans of Guns N’ Roses might be most familiar with guitarist Slash for his musical prowess, but the rock star has been in headlines most recently for his ongoing divorce. After approximately four years, proceedings seem to finally be coming to an end. He recently asked a judge to approve a settlement that addresses asset division, spousal support and child support.
Slash, whose real name is Saul Hudson, originally filed divorce papers back in 2014. The filing came after thirteen years of marriage to Perla Ferrar. Although exact details of the divorce are not clear, Slash claims that Ferrar has made the process more difficult than necessary by purposely drawing out proceedings and providing slow responses on important matters.
He submitted a proposed settlement to a judge in hopes that it will finally bring proceedings to an end. The settlement would give Ferrar an equalization payment of more than $6,627,000, and Slash would retain ownership of his guitars, other musical instruments, residuals and companies. Ferrar would also receive $100,000 a month in alimony, which would continue until she remarries or dies. Child support of their teen boys, aged 15 and 13, would total $39,000 per month.
Although most people in Texas might like to work out a divorce settlement between themselves, that is more of an ideal situation that does not regularly occur. Guidance from experienced counsels and input from family law judges are usually necessary for divorcing couples. This is especially true for contentious matters, such as spousal support, child support and custody arrangements.
